I was wondering, how often does the National Guard get deployed? my boyfriend is enlisting in the Guard next year, and I know basically nothing about the Guard/Military in general. I know that the Guard can be called in when there are national emergencies and what not, but how often do they get deployed? He's going into it to be a mechanic, and I'm just curious. thanks much!
I'm not sure when it comes to states if any MOS are more likely to deploy than others.
Some states claim to know years in advance which units are deploying. I don't know how true that is. Most Guard units know at least one year out if/when they are mobilizing.
If you deploy, as it stands, Guard soldiers are mobilized for one year. That includes pre-mob training, deployment, and post-mob. That means soldiers spend anywhere from 8-10 months in country. You also have a stabilization period, a minimum of two years, before you can mobilize again.
Ask a recruiter, they should know what units are deploying. sometimes you get a bonus for joining deploying units.
