Lt. Col. Jackie Huber, Bismarck, is the new commander of the North Dakota National Guard’s 164th Engineer Battalion based in Minot.
Huber took command of the unit on June 1 from Lt. Col. Paul Harron, Bismarck, who has been in command of the unit since August 2010. she accepts the role as the first ever female commander of the battalion.
Huber is employed full-time by the North Dakota Army National Guard as a director of human resources. she has been a member of the N.D. Army National Guard for 23 years.
Harron, the departing commander, is being given the opportunity to attend the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa. he will be able to take his family with him for the year-long school, after which he will return to North Dakota to a new duty assignment.
Shipmates who served aboard the battleship USS Missouri (BB-63) will hold their 39th annual reunion at the Holiday Inn Downtown in Mobile, Ala., from Sept. 12-18. all veterans and interested parties, along with their family and friends, are invited.
