Hadnot 'outstanding' in return to center
Versatility and experience are invaluable on the offensive line, and Hadnot provides a bit of both. on game days, there may be instances this season when he’s the first reserve to be called upon at the left guard and center spots.
“It was cool,” Hadnot said Thursday between turns of a game of dominoes with tight end Antonio Gates. “You’ve got an experienced quarterback. You’ve got an experienced line that’s around me, helping me out a ton. it was a lot easier than I would have previously thought. the guys around me made it easy today, so I’m appreciative of them for that.”
With Hardwick taking mental reps alongside Gates and linebacker Takeo Spikes, Hadnot moved from second-team left guard to starting center. Baxter, who spent a season at guard in college at Arizona, took Hadnot’s place. and Molk saw every rep at backup center.
“He’s a center-guard, and obviously, his ability to play center is big for us,” coach Norv Turner said. “I thought he was outstanding. We didn’t put the ball on the ground once with the starting group, and that’s the starting point when you have a backup center.”
